Built for boarders, by boarders. Proudly based in Tahuna, New Zealand. We embody skate, surf, and snowboarding at their core.

Surface Boardwear is an independently owned and operated brand - selling exclusively through our online store. Our HQ and operations are located in Tāhuna (Queenstown), New Zealand.

Our brand began at the beginning of 2022 when our founders figured there had to be more to life than being hidden away in an office for 8 hours a day. It was during a 3-hour road trip to the coast that the idea of embodying their love for surf, skate and snow, with the opportunity to change the conventional nine-to-five began.

So, they chucked their $800 worth of savings into the brand, and from there, Surface Clothing Co was born. Since then, every product you touch has been designed in-house by us here in New Zealand.

The name Surface came about from our philosophy of keeping our ‘Head Above Water’, in which we strive to raise awareness about mental health. We are very aware that the typical nine-to-five can have a dreary effect on some. Here at Surface, we want to make big changes in conventional business operations with work-life balance being an integral part of our culture, providing flexibility and support within our workplace. This includes mental health days, with our employees having complete control over their schedule.
